checking and management review. Using it's auditing processes and reporting tools Target 100 also allows organisations to demonstrate continual improvement in meeting targets – an essential
ingredient for achieving OHSAS 18001 accreditation.
HSG65 - meeting recognised standards of health and safety management
Successful Health and Safety Management (HSG65) was first prepared by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in 1991 as a practical guide for directors, managers, health and safety professionals and employee representatives who wanted to improve health and safety in their organisations.
The essential characteristics and features of HSG65 are that it:
-
describes the principles and management practices which provide the basis of effective health and safety management;
-
sets out the issues which need to be addressed; and
-
can be used for developing improvement programmes, self-audit or self-assessment.
Target 100 has been developed in line with the essential features of HSG65 so that organisations who use the system can be assured that they are following the basic principles of health and safety management as advocated by the HSE.
